Caring for Your Her Royal Hair Extensions

Proper care and maintenance are essential to help preserve the softness, appearance, and longevity of your hair extensions.

Although our extensions are made from human hair, they are no longer attached to the scalp and therefore do not receive natural oils from the scalp. This means your extensions require regular moisture, gentle handling, and proper maintenance.

With the right care, your hair extensions can remain beautiful and reusable for an extended period of time.


WASHING YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS

How Often Should I Wash My Extensions?

Wash your extensions as needed based on your lifestyle, product use, and installation method.

Washing too frequently can contribute to dryness, while excessive buildup can weigh the hair down and affect its appearance.

We recommend:

  • Gently detangling the hair before washing.
  • Using lukewarm water.
  • Applying a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo.
  • Washing from the top of the hair down toward the ends.
  • Avoiding aggressive scrubbing, rubbing, or tangling.
  • Rinsing thoroughly.
  • Following with a moisturizing conditioner.

Do not pile or twist the hair on top of your head while washing, as this can cause unnecessary tangling.


CONDITIONING YOUR EXTENSIONS

Conditioning is essential for maintaining softness and moisture.

Apply conditioner primarily to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair. Avoid applying excessive amounts of heavy products directly to the attachment area or roots, especially with extension methods such as tape-ins, K-tips, I-tips, and beaded extensions.

For additional moisture, use a deep-conditioning treatment as needed.

The frequency of deep conditioning depends on the hair type, styling routine, and level of chemical processing.


DETANGLING YOUR HAIR

Always detangle your extensions gently.

  1. Separate the hair into manageable sections.
  2. Begin detangling from the ends.
  3. Gradually work your way upward.
  4. Use a suitable extension-friendly brush or wide-tooth comb.
  5. Support the hair near the attachment area while brushing.

Never force a brush through tangles.

Avoid aggressive brushing, pulling, or excessive tension, as this may contribute to shedding, breakage, or damage to the extension attachment.


BRUSHING YOUR EXTENSIONS

Brush your hair regularly to help prevent tangling.

Always brush:

  • Before washing;
  • Before going to sleep; and
  • Before styling.

For installed extensions, be especially gentle around the roots and attachment points.

Avoid brushing wet hair aggressively. Allow the hair to become partially or fully dry before detangling, depending on your extension method and your stylist’s recommendations.


SLEEPING WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS

We recommend preparing your hair before sleeping.

  • Gently brush and detangle the hair.
  • Place the hair in a loose braid or low ponytail if appropriate for your installation.
  • Use a silk or satin bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase to help reduce friction.
  • Avoid sleeping with wet hair whenever possible.

Sleeping with wet or tangled hair may increase the risk of matting and tangling.


USING HEAT ON YOUR EXTENSIONS

Human hair extensions can generally be styled with heat; however, excessive heat can cause dryness and damage over time.

Always:

  • Use a heat protectant before applying heat.
  • Use the lowest effective temperature.
  • Avoid repeatedly applying high heat to the same section of hair.
  • Allow the hair to cool between styling sessions.

Frequent use of high heat may shorten the lifespan of your extensions.


COLOURING AND BLEACHING

Many human hair extensions can be coloured or chemically processed. However, chemical processing can affect the condition, texture, colour, and longevity of the hair.

We strongly recommend having colour or chemical services performed by a qualified professional.

Please keep in mind:

  • Bleaching can weaken the hair.
  • Colour results may vary.
  • Previously processed hair may react differently to additional chemical services.
  • Repeated chemical processing may shorten the lifespan of the extensions.

We recommend performing a strand test before applying colour or bleach to the entire product.

Chemical alterations may affect eligibility for returns, exchanges, or product guarantees according to our applicable policies.


HAIR PRODUCTS

Use products that are suitable for human hair extensions.

We recommend avoiding excessive use of:

  • Heavy oils;
  • Waxes;
  • Greasy products;
  • Products containing excessive buildup; and
  • Harsh chemicals.

Product buildup can weigh down the hair and may contribute to tangling or a dull appearance.

When using oils or serums, apply a small amount primarily to the mid-lengths and ends.


CARING FOR YOUR HAIR EXTENSION INSTALLATION

The lifespan of your extensions depends not only on the quality of the hair but also on the installation method and maintenance routine.

Follow your stylist’s specific maintenance recommendations for your installation.

Different methods—including tape-ins, K-tips, I-tips, wefts, and beaded extensions—require different maintenance schedules.

Do not attempt to remove professionally installed extensions yourself unless you have been properly trained to do so.

Improper removal may cause unnecessary tension or damage to the natural hair.


CARING FOR WEFT EXTENSIONS

When caring for weft extensions:

  • Avoid excessive tension on the weft.
  • Brush gently around the attachment area.
  • Avoid cutting the weft whenever possible.

CARING FOR WIGS, CLOSURES, AND FRONTALS

Wigs, closures, and frontals require gentle handling.

When not in use:

  • Store your wig in a cool, dry place.
  • Use a wig stand or suitable storage method.
  • Avoid storing the hair while wet.
  • Keep the hair away from excessive heat and humidity.
  • Gently detangle before storage.

Closures and frontals are delicate lace products. Excessive pulling, brushing, adhesive use, and frequent manipulation may shorten their lifespan.


HOW TO PREVENT TANGLES AND MATTS

To help reduce tangling:
